The final full event on the PGA Tour has a way of rearranging schedules. K.J. Choi had parent-teacher meetings for his third-grade son, David, then was going to take it easy before leaving on Saturday for China and the HSBC Champions. But after blowing away a strong field at the Chrysler Championship for his first victory of the year, he was making plans for the Tour Championship at East Lake.

Never mind that his name falls between Byron Nelson and Jack Nicklaus in an alphabetical list of the 114 members in the World Golf Hall of Fame. As Larry Nelson wrapped up his induction speech, he was quick to point out that he will never be considered one of the greats in golf. But there may never be another like him.

Retief Goosen made it sound as though he was making minor adjustments in his swing when he hired a coach for the first time in nine years. Turns out those changes are closer to an overhaul. Goosen did not want to go into great detail, but he said some major flaws have crept into his game the last few years.

Joe Durant finished his final day of practice at the Tour Championship when it started to sink in that he was among the elite on the PGA Tour for the 2006 season. "I was sitting here look out over the lake thinking, 'I can't believe I'm here this week after where I stood halfway through the year,"' Durant said.
