Third-seeded Mario Ancic beat defending champion Thomas Johansson 7-5, 7-6 (2) in the St. Petersburg Open final Sunday to win his third career title. Ancic, who won the Ordina Open grass tournament in June, converted his only break point in the first set to take the lead. Johansson, playing in his first final this season, broke Ancic in the sixth game of the second set to go up 5-2.

Hingis, Clijsters reach WTA Championship (AP)
